The Columbus Foundation and Boundless Leadership are Among the Early Supporters

Columbus, OH March 29, 2022 – In support of Ohio’s first-ever healthcare program tailored specifically to people with special needs, I Am Boundless, Inc., has launched a $2-million philanthropic fundraising campaign with $265,000 in gifts already received.

“One of the things that makes Boundless unique is we strive to be person-centered and coordinate all the services that an individual needs. Adding primary care and dental services specifically for individuals in the I/DD community is the next step,” Mary Ann Krauss, Boundless Philanthropy Committee Chair, said. “We believe this continuity of care will greatly impact those we serve. We are hopeful that others will want to invest in Boundless Health and join our efforts.”

The dollars raised through the campaign will support the transformation of an existing building on the Boundless Worthington campus into the new home for the Boundless Health primary and dental care clinic. The $2-million fundraising goal represents approximately half the total renovation costs for the building.

Included in the early gift totals is a donation of $115,000 from The Columbus Foundation. "Supporting Boundless for expansion and increased service delivery at the Worthington campus is an investment in a strong organizational mission, serving an important population, often with complex needs. The plan for Boundless Health, and seeking the FQHC designation, is a differentiator that we hope will benefit the I/DD population, and beyond, for years to come," said Dan Sharpe, Vice President for Community Research and Grants Management, The Columbus Foundation.

Leading by example, both Boundless President and CEO Patrick Maynard, PhD. and his wife Karen Muse and Boundless Board Chair Bill Forquer and his wife Miriam Forquer also made significant donations in support of the project.

“My family has been involved with Boundless for many years,” said Forquer. “We have seen firsthand how the services offered bring about significant life improvements to those in their care. Adding primary care and dental services through Boundless Health meets a critical need and is a unique next step. As we began our capital campaign, my wife Miriam and I felt passionate about making a personal donation and hope others in the community will follow.”

"I'm delighted to have Bill and Miriam’s support, along with that of The Columbus Foundation, as we expand Boundless Health's ability to serve Ohioans and families with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” said Dr. Maynard. “Their generosity and leadership are literally building a healthier tomorrow for those who need it most."

Boundless Health opened its doors in November of 2021 and currently sees patients in a smaller building on the campus. The renovations, which began earlier this year, will significantly increase patient capacity. When finished, the 27,500-square-foot healthcare center will include 15 examination rooms, six dental exam rooms, and feature sensory-friendly waiting rooms, private waiting rooms and other areas tailored to the specific needs of those in the I/DD community. A pharmacy will also be onsite, which will help coordinate care for those who have multiple prescriptions.

The new building will also house the behavioral health team, who will work side-by-side with the primary care team to provide whole-person care to the people seeking services.
