Tell Us How You Dare to Be Boundless

People with DD Are Daring to Be Boundless!

This Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, we’re asking our community to share all the ways they “Dare to Be Boundless.” We thought today’s social media holiday, #WriteDownYourStoryDay, would be the perfect opportunity to share some of the stories we’ve received so far!

There are many ways to tell a story using words, pictures, and videos. Another way is by making a time capsule, which is exactly what a group from our Boundless Community Pathways (BCP) program did!

Here’s Elizabeth placing items in the time capsule to be opened in the year 2031:

Carrie added a picture of herself riding a camel on vacation. Talk about daring to be boundless!

Here’s another photo of Elizabeth with Sam on Hat Day! This picture has a wonderful story to tell about how these two #DareToBeBoundless. Boundless Community Pathways is a program for adults with I/DD to meet people with similar interests and explore the community through small group activities and outings. Sam has worked very hard towards feeling comfortable in more social situations and letting friends into his life, and as you can see he’s found a good friend in Lizzy.

Another way our friends at BCP #DareToBeBoundless is by exploring hobbies and learning new things. Below is a picture of Dain participating in the morning meeting, going over current events and daily fun facts. That’s certainly a boundless smile!

Dain learns about current events. He has his tablet and is smiling.

For the people we serve, being boundless means so many things: it’s about going where YOU want your life to take you and finding ways to overcome obstacles in your path!

Richard is doing just that by daring to be a DJ. Richard knows pumping up the jams is what he loves to do—so he does it! He's come a long way in learning the technology and tricks of the trade. Here’s “Grandmaster G” getting the party started:

What exciting things will our BCP friends be up to in 2031 when they open their time capsule? Only time will tell, but we love knowing that whatever it is, they are forging their own path! Thank you for taking the time to enjoy these stories, and many thanks to those who have shared. Please follow our social media accounts as we continue to share how people in our community are daring to be boundless this March.

If you would like to share your own story or pictures, please post to social media using #DareToBeBoundless and tag Boundless. We would love to celebrate you and your loved ones successes and adventures.

Happy Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, everyone!
