Gifts Donated to Locals with Disabilities

Columbus, OH December 16, 2021 – Residents who have intellectual and developmental disabilities will receive unique gifts again this holiday season. Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Dublin adopts more than 160 adults living in places operated by the nonprofit, I Am Boundless, Inc., each year. Each person will receive gifts from the wish list they created.  

This is the sixth year that the church has brightened the holidays for Franklin County residents, who live in Boundless intermediate care facilities or supported living apartments or homes. Church members review the wish lists and shop specifically for each person, just like they would for a family member. While there are many programs that provide gifts to children, this project is special because all of the recipients are adults. 

“Prince of Peace has been buying gifts for people in need for over 30 years. These gifts bring the joy and love of Christmas to those who might not have relatives and friends to buy them gifts. Our members could not be happier to share the gifts they have been given to help others during the holiday season. We are truly blessed for the opportunity that Boundless has provided for us. They have helped to remind all of us of the true meaning of the holidays,” said Pastor John Morris, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. 

On Monday, December 20 volunteers will deliver all these wrapped gifts to a central Boundless location for staff to distribute to residents in time for Christmas Eve.  

“The residents at Boundless have enjoyed receiving these gifts each year. We are so grateful for their generosity. They are an amazing group of people. They take the time to make the gifts personalized by purchasing items people really want, but maybe cannot afford. It is ‘the extras’ in life, like these gifts, which make Christmas a little sweeter,” said Melinda Del Fratte, Director of Community Living Services, I Am Boundless, Inc.
