Boundless Campus 2021 Updates: Progress Continues

This year has been anything but normal for many of us. As we end the year, the Boundless leadership team is reconfirming our commitment to creating a campus home to best-in-class treatment of children and youth with autism— and one that also serves the greater Worthington community.

Just before the world changed in March, we hosted campus tours with our staff, parents, volunteers and the community to seek their input on preliminary plans. Then COVID-19 hit and we pivoted quickly to face this new reality. Pandemic lessons learned combined with and the great feedback spurred us to rethink some of our campus plans.

Instead of breaking ground for a new autism center first, as originally intended, we have an opportunity to renovate one of the older buildings on campus to open a new, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). FQHCs are community-based healthcare providers for underserved areas and communities and we look forward to opening an FQHC with a focus for individuals with developmental disabilities and complex needs.  When ready, our FQHC will be only the second of its kind in the country.

We still intend to develop an autism center, but the opportunity to open the FQHC fulfills our mission of providing total-person care to a group of people who are often overlooked or underserved by traditional healthcare providers.  And, by focusing on renovation of current property, we can preserve one of the older buildings.

As announced September 2019, we selected Worthington City Schools and National Church Residences as potential development partners based on their shared vision of service to the Worthington community. We continue to be committed to our potential partners.

We appreciate your continued interest and look forward to sharing more details on our vision with our friends, neighbors and partners as we move into 2021.
