What is a BT?

During DSP Appreciation Week, we're taking the opportunity to recognize another group of professionals whose impact deserves to be celebrated: our Behavior Technicians (BTs).
BTs work directly with individuals. Under the guidance of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), they implement individualized treatment plans, collect data on progress, and help people develop skills that support greater independence and quality of life. BTs are often the team members spending the most one-on-one time with those they serve, making them an essential part of each person's success.
Every day, BTs help individuals strengthen communication, develop social and coping skills, build daily living skills, and navigate challenges in ways that promote long-term success. Behind every goal achieved is a BT providing encouragement, consistency, and support every step of the way.
Successful BTs bring a unique combination of patience, curiosity, adaptability, and compassion to their work. They understand that progress looks different for every person and that growth often happens through small victories that build over time. Whether celebrating a new skill, helping someone work through a challenge, or being a dependable source of support, BTs play an essential role in each individual's journey.
For many professionals, becoming a BT is also the beginning of a rewarding career in behavioral health. The role offers valuable hands-on experience and opportunities for growth within the field, attracting people who are passionate about helping others and making a tangible difference in their communities.
Perhaps most importantly, BTs build relationships founded on trust. They create environments where individuals feel supported, understood, and empowered to succeed. While data and treatment goals are important parts of the job, it is the human connection behind the work that often leaves the most lasting impact.
At Boundless, we see that impact every day.
This week, we celebrate our BTs for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the people they serve. Thank you for the patience you show, the progress you help create, and the countless ways you support individuals in reaching their goals.
Your work changes lives, and we are grateful for all that you do.
