Honoring Those Who Served, and Serving the Communities They Protected

As Memorial Day approaches, we take time to remember and honor the individuals who gave their lives in service to our country. It’s a day of reflection, one that invites us to pause, recognize their sacrifice, and consider how we carry forward the values they fought to protect.

At Boundless, we see Memorial Day as more than a moment of remembrance. It’s an opportunity to reflect on the importance of supporting one another and strengthening the communities we are all part of. The freedoms we experience today exist because of service and sacrifice, and honoring that legacy begins with how we care for people in our everyday lives.

We also have many Staff Veterans at Boundless. One of them is Shawn Castle from our Information Security Department, an Air Force veteran. When asked what Memorial Day means to him, he shared: “To me, Memorial Day is about honoring my brothers and sisters in arms who paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. We all understood the commitment and risks that came with serving, but these individuals gave their lives so that others could continue to live in freedom. Memorial Day is a reminder that our freedoms were not given freely—they were earned through the courage and sacrifice of those who never made it home.”

Many of the individuals and families we serve are connected to military communities or are navigating challenges shaped by service, including living with disabilities. Their experiences highlight the importance of having access to consistent, compassionate support and services that empower individuals to live independently, build connections, and participate fully in their communities.

As we reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day, we’re reminded that supporting one another is an ongoing responsibility. At Boundless, that commitment takes shape through the services and care we provide every day to help individuals live with dignity and independence. Whether through healthcare, behavioral health services, or community-based programs, our work is rooted in meeting people where they are and helping them move forward.

Memorial Day encourages us to look not only to the past, but also to the present, and to the ways we can continue building stronger, more connected communities. By ensuring access to essential services and creating opportunities for people of all abilities, we honor the spirit of service in a way that is both meaningful and lasting.

Join Us in Continuing the Commitment

Boundless is dedicated to providing person-centered services that support individuals and families across our communities, but this work is made possible through the support of others. This Memorial Day, we invite you to join us in honoring those who served by contributing to the care and support that continues today. Your support helps create opportunities, expand access, and ensure that everyone has the chance to live a full and meaningful life. Donate today to make a difference.
