Being Agile: Specialized High Acuity Programs

It’s been a little while since we last talked about Boundless’ strategic plan and what it means to be agile.
Last time, we focused on how technology helps us adapt and respond more effectively. But being agile isn’t just about the tools we use; it’s also about the depth of care we’re able to provide, especially for people with the most complex needs.
That’s where this next strategy comes in.
Specialized High Acuity Programs
At a high level, this work is about strengthening and expanding how we support individuals with intensive, multi-system needs; people whose care often involves behavioral health, medical support, developmental services, and more, all at the same time.
This isn’t new territory for Boundless. One of the things we hear consistently from families, partners, and others in the community is that we fill a critical gap for people with needs that are often too complex for traditional models of care. It’s something that sets us apart, and it’s something we’re continuing to invest in.
A big part of this strategy is focusing on providing care earlier, especially with Multi-System Youth (MSY). These are young people who are often connected to multiple systems at once, and who can easily fall through the cracks if those systems aren’t well coordinated.
When we’re able to step in earlier, we can change the path forward. We can stabilize situations sooner, support families before things escalate, and reduce the need for more intensive interventions down the line.
This work also comes back to something we hear often: access. In many places, the need for this kind of care is already greater than what’s available. Being agile means finding ways to meet that need. Not just in one place, but in a way that can grow and scale over time.
That means continuing to build programs that bring multiple services together in a more coordinated way. It means strengthening partnerships, so families don’t have to navigate everything on their own. And it means being thoughtful about how we expand, so we’re not just growing in size, but growing in a way that maintains quality and consistency.
At the end of the day, this strategy is really about focus.
It’s about making sure we’re equipped to support people whose needs are the most complex.
It’s about showing up earlier, when it can make the biggest difference.
And it’s about continuing to build the kind of expertise that allows us to do this work well.
Because being agile isn’t just about keeping pace with change.
It’s about being ready for the moments—and the people—who need us most.
