Who we are
Boundless Health is the newest addition to the Boundless family – created specifically to meet the primary, dental, and behavioral healthcare needs of people and families with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and behavioral health challenges.
About the position
Our director of dental services is responsible for providing clinical leadership, fostering superior quality patient care, developing dental strategic goals, policies, and direction for the dental program, and the recruitment and retention of the dental staff at Boundless Health.
Key responsibilities
The ideal candidate will work cooperatively and effectively with the executive director and chief medical officer, utilizing a balanced and collaborative approach. This includes understanding the perspective of all disciplines involved in total health to promote optimal health for our clients while ensuring the achievement of organizational financial and quality strategic goals and objectives.
- Direct responsibility for all dental provider staff, to include orientation, development, clinical supervision, evaluation, quality oversight, and participating in recruitment.
- Provides care to patients of all ages and differing abilities including individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities problems through treatment with preventive and restorative techniques or through referrals to outside sources for services beyond the scope of the practice. This may require obtaining informed consent and using medical stabilization and behavior management techniques.
- Facilitates learning opportunities for dental and hygiene students from a partner dental college
- Assists in the preparation of and compliance with an operating budget for the dental department in conjunction with the Executive Director and CFO. In addition, the Dental Director shall prepare special grant and project budgets as required to meet the goals of the corporation.
- Works collaboratively with the Practice Administrator and Executive Leadership Team to monitor the performance of the EDR and oversee updating the system, testing, and implementing new components.
- Initiates and assists in the creation, development, Board approval, and implementation of Dental department policies and procedures, which are in compliance with the most current accepted professional standards.
- Assists the appropriate staff in the solicitation, development, management, and evaluation of any grants deemed necessary and useful to the function of Boundless Health. Provides input for the HRSA reports as necessary.
- Prepares and submits monthly written reports on Dental Department issues, concerns, program status, initiatives, and progress to the Practice Manager for submission to the Executive Director and the Boundless Health Provider/Quality Team Meetings.
- Serves as the chief dental contact for internal and external partners and successfully builds, develops and maintains essential partnerships. Actively reviews evidence-based practice standards, dental care advances and incorporates such standards and advances into the dental practice
- Assures a robust peer review and credentialing process, ensuring quality, safety, service, and behavioral issues on the part of the provider staff are addressed fairly and in a timely fashion.
- Makes recommendations to the Practice Manager for provider discipline, compliance issues, suspension and termination in accordance with Boundless Health policy.
- Performs other related duties which may be assigned by the Executive Director or Boundless Health Medical Director.
- All employees are responsible for promoting and participating in interdisciplinary communication and collaboration to enhance the delivery of quality across the health care system. Employees should maintain an environment that supports and engages patients and co-workers in a caring team-based model to promote wellness and improve health outcomes.
Candidates must hold an active dental license in Ohio. Candidates from other states will be considered but must be able to transfer their license into Ohio within thirty days of hire.
