Program Spotlight: Stepping Forward & SOAR

Spotlight: Stepping forward

Stepping Forward has a new director for 2020! Chelsea Myers has taken over for Ashley Gineman. Chelsea has a number of exciting trips planned for the year, including volunteering at a farm, a visit to the John Glenn International Airport, and more.

Chelsea is also pleased to share one of the highlights from 2019. Over the past year, the Stepping Forward team helped one of the individuals served in the program successfully increase independent transitions from between zero and five per day in 2018 to an average of nine per day in 2019! This same individual decreased non-compliance without aggression from an average of 45-minutes per day to 21-minutes per day.

Spotlight: SOAR

Congratulations to Sara Boettcher, our new clinic director for the SOAR program. Sara has been part of the SOAR team since 2013, initially as the intervention specialist and later as the behavior specialist. Sara plans to focus on increasing community outings, job skill training, and decreasing the level of supports our students need to prepare them for the transition to a less restrictive environment.
